Cryptosporidiosis
CampylobacteriosisLots of these are deadly to canines!
It’s no secret the off-leash pilot has been a hot spot in our community since it’s launch in December 2018. However, even before its launch, the area had been used as an off-leash area long before. This, along with winter months and the odd irresponsible user, has created an undesirable mess in the field.
You’ve noticed it, we’ve noticed it and it’s time to do something about it. So WE. NEED. YOU.
The ECCA with partnership with the City of Calgary’s P.U.P.P.Y Program and Off-Leash Ambassadors will be hosting an OFF-LEASH CLEAN UP DAY! We are searching for volunteers to join us cleaning up the area APRIL 13 from 10am-12pm. Want to volunteer? Click GOING on the official event or email communications@eccacalgary.com
Join the ECCA, local responsible pet owners, the City of Calgary’s Off Leash Ambassadors, and the volunteer-led P.U.P.P.Y Program and lets show some pride in our community!
What is an Off-Leash Ambassador?
The Off-Leash Ambassador program is a volunteer-led approach to educate citizens about responsible pet ownership and to ensure safety in off-leash areas. The program was launched in 2013 as part of our commitment to work with and support Calgarians to comply with the bylaws in our 150 off-leash areas. Our Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw, for example, requires dog owners to remove dog waste and to keep their dog under control at all times for everyone’s safety. What is the P.U.P.P.Y. Program?
Well, P.U.P.P.Y. stands for Pick Up Pooch’s Poo Yourself, pretty simple right? Cleaning up your dog’s waste is part of being a responsible pet owner and helps keep our parks, pathways
and off-leash areas safe and healthy. The PUPPY Education booth will be present at the clean up. Calgary Parks will support your volunteers by bringing everything needed for the clean-up including gloves, tools, bags etc.The ECCA will also be supplying TLC kits to all community volunteers, bringing your own tools is also welcome.
The Evanston clean-up event will be added to the PUPPY program calendar on Calgary.ca.
